| scheduled to leave sf at 11:05. flight delayed half an hour. finally boarded & took off. 5 minutes into the air, someone yells "oh my !@#%@ God" three times. lights flicker, plane shakes, smoke fills the cabin. couple minutes later, captain says something about engine failure, and that we're turning around. land safely. people cheer. and the guy explains that he yelled because he saw a fireball coming out of the engine. (thank goodness i was on the other side of the plane and didn't see the explosion...surprisingly pretty calm throughout the whole fiasco.)
it is now 1:30AM (4:30 eastern time) and i have to wait 5 hours for my rebooked flight. i really, really want to cry.
you can see people checking out the exploded engine on the left.
| so i'm in san fran right now. man, i am POOPED. arrived here around midnight...which is 3AM georgia time!! as my taxi driver dropped me off, he said "don't walk around by yourself here late at night". and i was like...good to know. the thing is, he dropped me off at the wrong hotel...so ended up walking around, by myself, for a couple blocks. yikes. took a couple more hours for me to settle down and fall asleep, and now i'm here at the conference center, waiting for this thing to start.
i can tell i'm at a flash design conference, cuz lots of people are sporting messenger bags, skinny or distressed jeans, and interesting hairdos. oh...and cool sneakers seem to be a staple. and EVERYONE is walking around taking pics. hahaha...i feel both at home and out of place all at once. anyway, guess this thing is gonna start soon, so better get going. hopefully i can stay awake.

| today we had a baby shower lunch for one of my coworkers in americus! all in all, i had to drive a total of 6 hours, but i'm glad i got a chance to see her before the baby...and plus on the way back i got to have a lovely spaghetti dinner with a friend in columbus as well!
as you may, or may not know, i do not have car here in atlanta, so i had to rent a car from the airport for this trip. by the time i dropped the car off, i was completely pooped. as i am sitting on the platform waiting for a train to take me home, one of the MARTA workers comes sits down next to me and starts talking to me. of course, i think this is a little strange, but i can't just ignore him, so i try to be nice. He tells me his name is Amos, he looks at least 45, and here's how our conversation ends...
AMOS: says something i don't understand ME: i'm sorry? AMOS: would it be ok if we got to know each other better? ME: umm...i'm sorry, no. AMOS: are you sure we can't catch a movie or something?? ME: i'm sorry
uhhhhhhh....i don't even know what to make of this. seriously. if i were a little more coherent and not so pooped, i think i'd have a good laugh (or cry) over my short conversation with Amos....pukakaka. strangly enough, this reminds me of a very similar situtation i was in a couple years ago. is God trying to tell me something?? hahaha...my life is so random sometimes. will it all ever make sense?? yikes!
hehe...whatever. i think i will eat my leftover spaghetti and watch some olympics before going to bed.

| i came
across this while i was searching for photos during work
today. not sure what it is, but it completely draws me in and
i love it...i think i could spend hours just staring at it.
it's like a breath of fresh
air, making all the dumb things i complain and stress
about seem unimportant. i really can't explain
it...

| ok, i TOTALLY love san diego!! i mean, we've only been here for a few hours, but still. i LOVE seeing the ocean and LOVE the weather. i mean, after the ridiculously hot and humid south, 70 degrees feels WONDERFUL. plus, i just got back from dinner with some coworkers and the vendors who we're doing training with...and i can't remember the last time i had so much fun or laughed so much. one of the guys who works for our vendor is actually a U of I alumn and we bonded over a mini I-L-L!! I-N-I!! chant...kekeke
started my trip with this 1000lb backpack. i dunno why i'm alwasys so against checking bags, so crammed everything into my carry-ons. luckily, i didn't tip over or faint from the weight.
then on my 4.5 hour flight to san diego, i made a new friend. sat next to this girl named annabella...and she was a talker. she seriously talked more in the couple hours we sat next to each other, than i do in a whole month. was a little tiring after a while, but made for a entertaining flight =)
don't think the rest of the trip will be as exciting...especially since we're starting training tomorrow and it's supposedly gonna be intense. but at least we had a good first night!
